Summary:
The Security Officer provides safety and security services to ensure the well-being of both people and property by patrolling assigned areas.
The Security Officer will assist with enforcement of rules and regulations of OakLeaf Surgical Hospital.
Hours:
Per Diem Security Job Functions:
Escorts visitors, patients, and staff to requested locations.
Performs routine patrols of the hospital and campus.
Responds to emergency situations and alarms.
Verbally de-escalates high stress situations involving agitated persons.
Confront hostile persons in high stress situations using physical force as needed.
Enforces Oakleaf Surgical Hospital policies related to Environment of Care Safety and Security.
Conducts and evaluates fire drills.
Controls access to Oakleaf Surgical Hospital through video surveillance and access control systems.
Assists in maintaining the lost and found program.
Conducts investigations and prepares security incident reports.
Assists motorists as needed.
Observes safety and security hazards while on patrols.
Maintains accurate daily logs.
Has a plan that creates a mechanism for staff to have a security escort when exiting the hospital.
Is aware of specific geographic areas defined as high-risk areas based on crime stats provided by the Altoona Police Department commonly known areas of concentrated criminal activity.
Maintains awareness of high-risk patients in terms of potential threat to hospital staff.
Is subject to all affiliate policies and rules relative to on-call status.
Completes paperwork related to the service provided to ensure accurate reimbursement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowing in implementation of security protocols, access control, and emergency management procedures.
Demonstrate effective communication with colleagues, visitors, and authorities both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge in security systems, alarms, and other technological tools used for monitoring and controlling access.
Knowledge in Microsoft Officer and other technology platforms used for leading the Emergency Management program.
Keen attention to detail and the ability to notice suspicious activities or behaviors.
Customer services skills to provide assistance and information to visitors while maintaining a professional and courthouse demeanor.
Knowledge of law, regulations and accreditation standards related to security, privacy, the use of force and emergency management.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Ability:
Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.
S.
Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field of study required.
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field of study preferred.
Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) certification preferred.
Two (2) or more years of experience of private security functions required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
